• Investors should be aware of how the upcoming Mongolia election will affect the value of their portfolios.

  • There is limited material covering this story from the mainstream media.

Mongolians will elect a new parliament on June 28, 2012.  One would think it’s an important event.   I am surprised that there is such limited information to be found about this topic online. Parliamentary elections in Mongolia are held every four years.  The next election, based on the amended law, should occur on the third or fourth Wednesday of June.  Is the communist party or the democratic party likely win the election?  What will be the effect of each scenario on investments in the region?  Since there is limited information online, I would recommend that our readers contact their investment advisors to request in-house research, obtain a list of companies that hold assets in Mongolia, and learn how to monetize or hedge for this opportunity.  If you don’t have access to a registered investment advisor who understands the election situation in Mongolia, we would be happy to make that referral.
